Line 14, connects the northeast to the southwest through an “L” shaped routing.

Planned to have 37 stations over 47.3 km, it has been opening in stages – the first, in the west, in 2013, with other sections opening in 2014 (the eastern section) and 2015 (southern section). There is still a middle section that was expected to open in 2019, but that has faced delays.

The China Central Academy of Fine Arts was asked to come up with designs for some of the stations after the first phase had been completed; and this explains why the first phase in the main only features special lighting, or specially designed windows such as at Garden Expo Park station, that dominate the platforms..
