Line 16 will eventually be 49.8 km long with 29 stations, including 12 interchange ones, and run from Beianhe to Wanping Town.
The first phase section in the north, 19.6 km in lengthfrom BeiAnHe station to XiYuan, opened on December 31, 2016 (an infill station, Nongdananlu was opened on December 30, 2017).
Eventually it will be 49.8 km with 30 stations when fully completed. The middle section from Xiyuan to Ganjiakou is scheduled for opening at the end of 2020. The southern section from Ganjiakou to Wanpingcheng is likely to be opened a year later.
In the first phase stations, only Xiyuan features a mural – it replaced an earlier one that had to be removed from the Line 4 section when new passageways to Line 16 were constructed. But all the stations so far feature exclusive geometrical designs in the ceilings. Many of Line 16’s stations also feature special lighting above the platforms.
Line 16 is the fourth line in the capital (after lines 4, Daxing and 15) to be operated by Beijing MTR Corporation.
